We are a small hand-painted sign business based in Louisville, Kentucky. After traveling around the country for several years — learning along the way from veterans of the craft — we officially opened for business in 2015. Finer Signs specializes in hand lettering, design, illustration, and murals painted directly onto a surface (such as glass, wood, brick, or metal). We pride ourselves on offering a unique product to every customer and value the personal relationships we develop with our clients along the way. Sign painting is experiencing a worldwide renaissance, and we are happy to help in keeping the craft alive.

Shelby Rodeffer is a painter and commercial artist. Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, she embraces signs of the human hand in both personal and professional work. Her influence comes from folk art and representational art. She is fond of traditional sign making as a means of communication and as a practical form of artistic expression. Currently, Shelby can be found sign painting, riding her bicycle, and sewing her own clothes.

Julian Baker is a graphic designer on paper but likes to dabble in as many industrious crafts as his hands can handle. Finer Signs is a way for him to balance all the time spent hunkered over a computer screen with the important practice of creating things that are real and tangible. When there is leftover time after that, you can expect to find him tinkering with something on 2 wheels or fiddling with old cameras.
